Green smoothies have become hugely popular, I see them popping up all over the place and I for one cannot get enough of them. If my smoothie isn’t green in the morning I am not interested. I have been experimenting with a lot of different combinations and flavours some have been amazing, others not so much, I actually put turmeric in one because I heard it was good for sore throats lets just say it went straight down the sink, just because it’s good for you doesn’t always mean it’s going to taste good. I get so many comments in the office on how healthy I look with my green shakes but it’s a common misconception that I have packed them full of veggies really it’s just the spinach (which you can’t taste) which changes the colour. There are so many health benefits to spinach which is why I add it to all of my drinks. Spinach has an extremely high nutritional value and is full of antioxidants. It’s a great source of Vitamin A, B2, C and K and contains magnesium, iron, calcium and potassium to just name some so it’s definitely worth adding it to your smoothie. You will notice huge benefits to your skin and energy levels in the morning and they taste absolutely delicious!
My absolute go to fav.
I could drink this all day every day, it’s so simple, cheap and ridiculously tasty. This smoothie is exactly what you need in the morning when you are tired, about to leave for work and it is raining. It’s tropical, it is fruity and it makes you feel like you are glowing.
1 x Banana, 1/3 of a pineapple (tinned is fine if it is juice), 1 squeeze of lemon, 2 cups of spinach, 2 cups of coconut water/ water.
Cashew and mango
This was the first green smoothie I tried to make. I got the inspiration from
Deliciously Ella’s page, she is amazing when it comes to smoothies and juices. I was a bit sceptical as there so many ingredients that I just wouldn’t have put together and couldn’t imagine tasting good green but I gave it ago and never looked back. It’s packed full of goodness and it is perfect energy boost to start your morning.
1 x Mango, 1 x Banana, 2 cups of spinach, 1/2 cup of cashew nuts, 1 squeeze of lemon, 2 cups of water or coconut water, 1 cup of ice cubes
Banana, avocado and almond milk
So this one is probably more Khaki than green but is no less delicious or healthy. It may look murky but it is so good and perfect morning filler post gym. I put almond milk in it to make it a bit thicker and creamier because the mornings at work after I have been gym are hungry ones and this just helps fill that hole.
1 x Banana, 1/2 Avocado, 2 cups of homemade or unsweetened almond milk, 1 cup of blueberries, 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup of ice cubes
